Maui with a 1 Year Old

Rilynn loved Hawaii so much I tried to convince Travis that we should move there for a year.  That didn't happen, but life at home hasn't been too bad.  I'll write an update our new adventures at home later on.
Flying with a 1 year old has some pros... she flies for free..... and that's probably about it. The ticket to not going insane on our 5 plus hour plane ride was snacks (LOTS of snacks) and attaching her pacifier to her shirt so she couldn't throw it. After only 40 minutes of napping, lots of walking up and down the aisle, and 10 minutes of watching a movie, we made it! When it is just the 3 of us, I refer to our trips as business trips; still fun but we still have the full responsibility of being parents of a 1 year old.  But on this trip, we had LOTS of babysitters, which made it more like a vacation.  It was kind of a last minute decision to head to Maui a few days earlier than planned.  We spent the first 5 nights at the Worldmark in Kehei with Travis's mom.  It was a great time going to different beaches, eating at our favorite little place (the 808 Deli), and Rilynn spent hours in the water.  The baby pool was perfect because Rilynn could walk all over on her own which gave her lots of confidence in her land walking too.
Next, we met up with my parents and sister to celebrate my mom and dad's 30th wedding anniversary in Kaanapali. Our condo had an amazing view and we enjoyed dinner on our lanai every night.  Rilynn's walking really took off one night, she just decided she was going to get up and go.  She paced back and forth between Sadie, Mimmi, and I setting a new personal record of 20 steps! We continued exploring lots of beaches and restaurants, Travis and my dad only golfed twice (which is pretty amazing if you know my dad), and we had cocktail hour in the room every night.
Morning walks to the beach.

Playing in the baby pool.

Daddy loved taking Ri Ri into the ocean.  I'm not a big ocean swimmer to begin with and after the shark attack on day 2, I decided shallow waters (like up to my knees) was about as far out as I was going.

Sunsets were beautiful.

The view from our Honua Kai condo.

We were very excited to try out Baby Beach in Lahina.  I highly recommend it to anyone who has tiny babies or kids who are afraid of the waves.  Our child, however, loves the waves and was super confused on where they were.

The surf shirt swimsuits that we found at Costco in Maui were the best!  We didn't have to worry about our little munchkin burning and they are so cute!

Travis found some waves.

So sad this turned out blurry, but I still love it.

Day 1 of walking in the pool.
